Fly the SA flag on OS X
You know how you HATE that UK or US flag on your OS X menubar…?
The one that looks like this…

well, you could change it to this…

here’s how… (thanks Nev)
For many years of my Mac computing life, I raged against that colonialist (UK) or imperialist (US) flag that somehow waved over my desktop. Now I know I can turn that off… but I knew it was there!
The flag is meant to denote the keyboard mapping you are using but many Mac users made it do double duty as a patriotic icon. Now South African mac fans can too…
Download the following file…
The two files you need to fly the SA flag
and unzip it and place the two files you get into your ~/Library/Keyboard Layouts folder.
Then logout and in again and open International from System Preferences. Scoll down and click South Africa on and ensure that “show input menu in menu bar” is ticked.
