Asustek, the guys behind the phenomenal EEE PC are making sure they stand out from the growing crowd of competitors with their new 9″ EEE PC due to be released in a month or two.

Digitimes reports that Kevin Lin, Asustek Vice-President of Sales, reckons that the top-of-the-line EEE will now retail for approximately $500.

The second generation line-up will sport a touch-screen and possibly a GPS radio as well.

Spec wise the 2nd gen will feature double the base RAM to 1GB and storage on SSD in the 8-12GB range. The EEE has been a massive hit worldwide with a broad range of markets and the addition of touch-screen functionality will only make it even more compelling.

Car enthusiasts will no doubt delight at the possibilities a touch-screen, dash-mounted EEE may offer.
