iPhone OS 3.0 in the works

Apple is officially announcing a roadmap for iPhone OS 3.0 on 17 March 2009 at press briefing, presumably at the Cupertino campus. At the briefing, Apple will give insight as to what developers and users alike can expect from the upcoming mobile OS. As a registered iPhone developer myself, I personally hope to see Push Notifications as part of the new API.
